Beef in Black Bean Sauce

This is my low faff way of making black bean beef that actually tastes banging. Using a supermarket stir fry sauce as the base and building on it with a few extras means you get big flavour without needing to source black bean paste. Perfect for a quick fakeaway at home, and even better for leftovers or freezer dinners.

Step 1

Start by tossing the sliced beef with the cornflour, soy sauce, oyster sauce and black pepper. Leave it to sit while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.

Notes

If your steak isn’t very thin, lightly bash it with a rolling pin before slicing this helps keep it tender and gives you that takeaway style texture.

Subs
If you can’t get oyster sauce, use extra soy sauce and a small squeeze of hoisin for a similar depth.
Swap beef for chicken using the same method.

If you would prefer to make your own egg fried rice, see the recipe linked

Lots of flavour. Marinating the steak made it really soft. Definitely making it again.
