If you’d like to make your own white sauce instead of using a jar: Melt 15g reduced fat butter in a pan, stir in 15g plain flour, and cook for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in warmed 200 ml semi-skimmed milk, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened. Season with a pinch of salt, pepper, and a little grated nutmeg if you like.

I’d like to make this into a lasagne…. Would you still use the same amount of pasta but just lasagne sheets in stead?

For a lasagne version, swap to about 12 dried lasagne sheets, making sure they’re blanched or soaked if necessary to slightly soften. Layer the meat sauce, lasagne sheets, and white sauce, finishing with cheese. Hope it turns out delicious!
