Fresh gnocchi works best here as it cooks directly in the sauce, but cupboard gnocchi can also be used. If using cupboard gnocchi, simmer it in the sauce for an extra 2-3 minutes and add a splash more hot water if needed, as it absorbs more liquid. If you don’t have Elmea, single cream or a light cream cheese loosened with water will work.
