Brown sugar: Light brown sugar can be used instead. You can also use a little extra honey or maple syrup, although the flavour and texture will be slightly different. Granulated sweetener will work too, but the bacon onion jam may be a little less sticky and caramelised
Garlic sauce: Adjust the garlic to taste, or use a shop bought garlic mayo for an easier option.
