Slow Cooker Steak & Ale Puff Pastry Pie

Tender slow cooked beef in a rich ale and onion gravy, topped with golden, flaky puff pastry. All the comfort of a homemade steak pie without the faff. I love this with mash and greens but you can keep it a lighter dinner with just some veg! I've also popped in how to omit the Ale if preferred.

Step 1

Heat a large non-stick frying pan over a medium to high heat and spray lightly with oil. Season the diced beef with salt and black pepper, then add to the pan and sear for a couple of minutes on each side, turning occasionally, until browned on the outside. Work in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding the pan. This is optional but does help to enhance the flavour.

Pairs With

Creamy mash, crispy baby potatoes or simple steamed/roasted veg. You could also just serve it with greens if you want to keep it lighter.
